first few frames underexposed in K-500

I have experienced a problem with my K-500: the first few frames are dramatically underexposed, by maybe 3 or 4 stops. I fiddle with the settings a bit, making sure they are the default, etc. Then after taking a few shots, the problem fixes itself and I get normal exposure. Anyone else encountered this problem? And any suggestions about what could be causing it?

Some of the K-30, K-50, and K-500 cameras, which are all very similar,
have had problems like yours (or worse) with the "diaphragm control block".

See for example

If your camera is still under warranty, it might be worth getting the problem dealt with right away.

Just to make sure the aperture problem isn't rearing its head here, can you verify that you are not using Spot Metering? Oh, and what lens are you using that you see this happen with?

Thanks

Thanks all of you for your suggestions. It does look like it's the diaphragm control block -- I wasn't using spot metering (I don't think that's an option with the K-500 -- is it?). But, of course, I'm two months or more out of guarantee. Sigh. I'll have to call Ricoh/Pentax, I guess.

Thanks again
