You mention that they are Micro SD cards so you also have a converter in the equation which is a bit of a compromise, not saying it's a problem but it could be. I have read about people having problems with micro SD cards in cameras, I'm not saying it's likely, but that it's possible.

Personally I would not keep photos on the card after downloading for multiple reasons.. I prefer to format the card in camera after each use, and I prefer to use the cable for downloading so the cards rarely leave the camera.
