Sigma 70-300 not attaching to K50

Hi all

I have a Sigma 70-300mm I bought cheap, took a couple of snapshots to ensure it worked and put it in the closet. Now a couple of months after I wanted to take a shot at the moon, but the lense would not attach completely.

I can screw it on but the final *click* will not come, and I can detach the lense again without pressing to detach-button. The F-value and AF does not work when I try it, it just spins freely. When I look at the mount of both camera and lense I cannot find any fault. My other lenses still attaches just fine.

I have tried to attach it with the aparture ring set to automatic and not automatic, at different zoom and with Macro switched on and off. I have also tried to put the camera in manual, with no better result.

I fear that this is probably me who is the reason for this error, as it worked earlier and nothing should have changed since then. I hope that you can give me some pointers!

Can you post a picture of the lens mount? Some Sigma's have an aperture flange that is out of position and it hits the SDM contacts.

The aperture flange appears to be normal. Check the aperture lever and make sure it isn't bent. then check the bayonet flags and make sure none of those are bent. The indentation next to the screw near the aperture lever is the lock.

Hi sorry for the late response!

Thanks for your reply! Notice that small black "thing" in the hole next to the screw in the buttom of the first image? It was a small piece of plastic and that is why the lens could nok lock on to the body!

It seems to work fine now, however sometimes if I go from maybe 70 mm to 250mm and try to focus it fails and writes F---. I am not sure if it is because the battery were almost dead and the screw could not drive it enough or wathever, but a bit inconsistent still...
