Katz Eye makes a replacement screen. And you can read about their marking options here. I think if you replaced the screen with one with "portrait markings" and shoot your subjects within those frames, you'll be much happier.
KatzEye is (sadly ) no longer doing regular business, although it is my understanding that they are doing a final production run between now and end-of-year.

No, this is not a menu option. The menu settings for still photography are summarized on pages 18-24 of the English version of the user manual. If you need a camera with the option to default to live view, a Sony product may be your best option.

Steve

yes, I know that...I like Lview, optical viewfinder is waste of time for me, because I have an option to see my picture much clearly from certain distance, and I can move camera quicker...

Optical viewfinder suite for me in big sunshine reflection scenario, but other than that it's just something that I will not use often, or maybe never

It really sounds like you'd be much happier with a mirrorless. Sony has a number of products that might really work well for you.

future is in mirrorless cameras... I came from versatile system, and I can tell you - bigger is not friend of photographeur -

yes - I know what I buy, but my minds will be always on smaller cameras, and I know many good reasons for that...

Pentax like K3 is good for many PRO things, but for street or maybe event shooter, there is much better options...

And, if I'm sound little bitchy here - trust me, I know what I'm talking about

Since you know what you're talking about, why ask questions here? Obviously the K3 is not a good fit for your needs. I'm sure you can sell it quite quickly, and move onto something more to your suiting.

it's always good to ask,

Pentax was very wanted by me, but now, when I must take photos with it, it's a different thing, must say... It's a usual risk, I must admit that

Really? Is that why you bought a camera that wouldn't do what you want it to, after being told that it wouldn't, and then tried to blame the forum members as a whole for your lack of research? You did all that because, in your words, you're a "great photographer" and you "know what (you're) talking about"?

Couldn't help myself!

No but seriously, maybe you should check out the GR or GR II. It's the perfect street camera if you're fine with an 18mm FL.

panonski, If you don't like the K3, you can always send it to me. I could get a lot of use out of it.

Trust us, we do too. Several of the respondents to this thread shoot multiple different systems in both film and digital and are familiar with the strengths, weaknesses, and applicability of each. As for your original question and comments that followed, I am going to be honest and come right out and say that I am frankly puzzled why you purchased a K-3 or any dSLR, particularly since "future is the mirrorless camera" and use of an optical finder is not how you roll. I am also puzzled that as an experienced photographer, you chose to post your question before having reasonable familiarity with the camera or the user guide. All that aside...As noted above, Sony is probably your best option as a vendor with the Ricoh GR as a viable option if most of what you shoot is street.

Steve

(...shoots 35mm rangefinder for street...that's how I roll...)

I can see, many members have problems facing with critics on some preferences...

About GR, I have an GX 200 which annouced 2007 I believe... Don't get lectures on me, just because you don't understand me.. .

yes, I know K-3 was not light, sure, I noticed this... Sure, I know K3 have a bigger body... Sure I know K3 have an optical viewfinder which I will use rarely ...

It's not the point, I just mentioned this things....

Huh, people are everywhere exactly the same... In microfourthird forum, when I say Pentax or something else, everybody saying same stuffs :
Like

So go buy Pentax... here : So go by mirrorless...

Really?
I cannot say a constructive critic over cameras I have ?

Really ?

Don't judge me so quickly, you don't know me, you don't know anything about my work, and if you are thinking ( and many old "pro"s are ) that I'm not real photographer just because I don't use Optical vievfinder, I tell you....

You don't have a clue about photography - and I can beat you with every phone camera .

Many of you doesn't even know that I have experiance with film cameras since I was kid, ( about 24 years ago )... and the cameras was made by Nikon...

Don't patronize me about cameras , will you---- Thanks "pentaxians"

This seems to be going agaisnt yourself, we should not judge you but you can judge us.

I have been shooting since 1973 and still shoot large format film photography and Hasselblad so Nikon does not impress me much. I also used to use Nikons, F2 and D2X, D3, still D300 but that does not mean that I know anymoe about you then you do about me.

And they questioned your not being a pro not because you use live view but because you bought a camera that was basically designed for an optical viewfinder and then complained about it not being a mirrorless type camera.

A lot of people perfer the 5X7 aspect as the best for portraiture.
