Tamron 300/5,6 (54B): adaptall-2

Hi to all
recently bought a Tamron 300/5,6 (54B) after reading the very good reviews on this site.
I have adaptall-2 (simple) ring and adaptall-2 ring with electic contacts.
In you opinion is better to use adaptall-2 with electric contacts or is the same also with simple adaptall-2 ring?

As I can see lens group seems to be clear, no fungus, no haze... but on my K5, tamron 300 quality (with simple adaptall-2 ring) seem to be not great.

Thanks a lot

The difference is that the adapter with electrical contacts will make it possible for the camera to register the aperture. Otherwice you might as well use the plane adapter.
If you're unhappy with your pictures, the issue is probably the manual focus at f/5,6. It takes a lot of practice and perhaps the change of focusing screen.

I also own both. With the PKA version (contacts on base) you have the convenience of all exposure modes on your camera. With the PK (plain) version you are basically limited to M-mode using either green button or off-camera metering. Both should provide the same image quality.

That out of the way, please explain why you are disappointed.

And then there is that, although you can actualy use Av mode with the PK adapter which is what I do most of the time.

You can, but the lens will always shoot wide open regardless of where the ring is set. That is the most likely cause of the OP's experience of poor performance with adapter.
