Optio WG-2 as Webcam?

Fellow Pentaxians,

Is it technically possible to use my WG-2 as a webcam?

I have a webcam built in to my laptop, but not my desktop.
Is there any software (perhaps open source) that will allow this to happen?

... Or is this not possible due to hardware limitations?

I appreciate your feedback!

I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe the wg-2 has any video out, so no.

My WG-II has HDMI out and Video out NTSC and pal. I can not answer your questions tho.

If it's like other Pentax cameras, the HDMI out is for playback only and cannot provide a live feed from the sensor.

Unless, of course, it is like my K-3 which outputs live view quite nicely from the sensor via the HDMI out*. Regardless of output, I doubt there are Web cam drivers for Ricoh/Pentax cameras.

OT, but did anyone ever figure out a way to get a clean signal via HDMI without overlays?

True clean HDMI? No...

Without overlays? That is a good question. I know that LaurenOE does some sort of hack with her K-3 kit, but I don't know if that is for cabled capture.

Field monitors? Yes...
