Lightroom is probably the gold standard for photo organization and light editing work. I have it and like it. Costs ~$100.

There are free options though, which others can speak about.

And it's "DNG", meant to evoke "digital negative".

Assuming you have the discs that came with the K3....the Silkypix one should be fine with DNG files. If not, Lightroom is the way to go.

Welcome!
For beginning, I think the DCU 5 (on the included CD) will be enough.
Many programs can offer good solutions. The knowledge how to work with them is on the first place. So enjoy the process of learning !

The program that came with the camera isn't too shabby either.
Also, have you checked to see if you have Adobe Photoshop Elements already installed?
That seems to come pre-loaded on almost every machine these days!

EDIT: Oops! Looks like three of us had the same answer at the same time!

Jinx!

You can pick up the DNG codec for windows directly from Adobe's Web site. Then you can view DNGs in Windows Picture Viewer directly from File Explorer. And once the codec is installed File Explorer will make thumbnail pictures from DNG files. Search the Adobe site for "DNG codec"

For viewing and deleting obviously bad fotos I use Faststone Imageviewer. For developing I use Rawtherapee. Both have the advantage of being free.

Download FastStone Image Viewer
RawTherapee Downloads
