Probably best to do nothing unless you have only one body and it would be major disaster if it failed one day out in the field.

Yes, thanks panoguy for the exploded view of the K7, before that I searched far and wide came up empty. Not sure why Ricoh doesn't have this on their website ?
I also ran into this article from the Pentax Forum website for anybody that is interested: The evolution of the K-mount: The Evolution of the Pentax K-mount - Articles and Tips | PentaxForums.com

Notice how its connected to the camera by a wire (Fig 5 ).
The wire labeled (47) goes from part A105 to "upper flex circuit block A" T700 and is listed as D_GND (not Da Girl Next Door but an abbreviation from Ground). As I speculated before this is probably the ground for lens circuitry and in time will probably become intermittent or fail all together due to oxidation or other loss of physical contact.

Thank you NAN, I purchased a micro soldering gun and plan to see if I could solder it myself or get an expert to do it. In no way will I be sending my camera to Precission Camera, or KEH for that matter. They both charge $200+ just to look at the camera of course that does not include shipping.

Some soldering flux will make the job much simpler. In a pinch you can use a weak acid like vinegar. Just be sure to clean the flux/acid off afterwards.
