I patched the 32bit version of the installer package. I just removed the part of the install script that checks the version of Windows. I tested it on Windows 7. To reload Win10 32bit I'd have to wipe a drive and reinstall a backup image. Too much work but it should work on Win 10 32bit.

My comment above is from a Asus ee-slate Windows 10 Pro x64. I came from Asus with Windows 7 x64. The version 2 update shown above was loaded AFTER upgrading to Windows 10 x64. Not a problem.
On my main desktop, flattened and reloaded with Windows 10 Pro x64, the codex loaded just fine as did the 32bit Blu-Ray player (I use a Blu-Ray R/W LG disk) software built for Windows 7.

32 bit software runs fine on x64 systems, it is 16bit stuff that make them puke bits on the floor.

You can't run 64bit software on 32bit systems thus I patched the 32 bit version for those running W10 32bit.

I use the Fast Stone Image viewer/editor. It recognizes the RAW files, both formats. It's freeware, small, fast and has all the basic resize, crop, adjust light/colour, sharpen/blur tools at hand, plus, it doesn't destroy metadata from the images after editing. Works on Windows 10 flawlessly. Can't be really compared with expensive professional image processing software (Adobe Photoshop and similar) but it's simple, intuitive, and works.

I don't know who is missing the point but it seems to me all the OP wanted is to be able to see thumbnails of the RAW files in the standard Windows 10 Explorer / file browser. All you need for that are the Microsoft Camera Raw codecs which haven't been updated (AFIAK) yet for Windows 10. However if you remove the Windows version check in the Windows 7 codec pack they will install and work under Windows 10. I've provided links for modified versions of the install files. If you don't trust these files you can always patch them yourself. The instructions and the Microsoft tool to modify the files are readily available on Microsoft's own websites.

Are you on Win 10 64bit or 32bit? The 64bit version will not install on 32bit Windows.

The patched version linked in the blog page I referenced above should work. It installed on my Win10 64bit.

Same here

I have the same issue and any links provided here don't work whether is 32 or 64 bits... And sure you can run some 32 bits programs on your 64 bits system, in fact most of programs are 32 bits and you can prove this looking at your harddisk C-> Program Files(x86)... There are all your 32 bits programs allocated: Chrome, Firefox... Most powerful programs as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Premier are 64 bits natively because many reasons such as more memory required.

I don't understand... why DNG codec works once you have installed but Pentax codec? If you want to work with these files you need to download that Pentax edit software that sucks. Finally, Pentax software isn't made for K-3 but for K5 or K7. Am I missing something? Nobody complains, I assume they are shooting in either DNG or JPEG.

I don't know what you people are doing differently but I once again installed both the 32bit and 64bit patched version on my Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

Try right-clicking on the install file and Run as Administrator.

64 bit versions will execute faster and use memory more efficiently than 32 bit versions.

I bought it second hand, I did have any software. Anyway, the codec should be available for download from the Pentax Rocoh site.

From your attachment, it looks like you still can't see the thumbnail. I will check out their website.

Thanks.

I tried to re-install it but no luck.

Thanks for your help.
