As for macro (if you want real macro), buy 1:1, and don't forget flash. The bottom line- you need flash for true macro. Check macro club here. After experimenting with different macro setups (extension tubes, raynox) I ended up with old copy of Tamron 90mm macro. It's sharp, but AF is slow and hunting which does not matter for macro because I focus manually shooting 1:1.
