Circles around bright lights (film; Pentax ME)

Got me confused, those rings around bright spots of light. Help me out, guys.

You need to post the actual photos and not links to those photos.

Do you have a filter on the front of your lens? If so, take it off and the rings will disappear.

No filter. Just a plain lens.

That's weird for Fuji 200 because that looks a lot like what happens with film that doesn't have an anti halation layer. I think builttospill is right though because of the way the white light looks like a rainbow.

But there's no filter. It's evident on daylight photos too, but to a lesser extent, as only the brightest sources have these halos. Any theories?

Water condensation inside lens or on film?

Does this occur with every lens you try or just the 50mm F1.7?

I just got the lens cleaned professionally. As soon as I get another lens, I'll try it out.

Does the lens appear clean after you got it back? I'm wondering if there is any cleaning residue or grease/oil on the front or rear elements. Check for this or streaks with a bright light.

Also curious to see the results with a different lens.

It looks like fog on one or more lens surface(s).
As stevebrot said.

I have a Pentax-M 50mm f1.7 from an old Pentax ME Super that I use on my K10D. It's my best lens. I don't get the rings that you are getting.

Check these out, guys. The rings are visible in two photos. Thoughts?

The lens, to my eye, looks physically perfect. The effect is sometimes seen in the finder too.

Why did you have the lens cleaned? And was it doing anything like this before you had it cleaned? I'm tending to agree with some of the others who think it's something on one of the internal elements of the lens.
