Hello, I'm now a pentax user, and I dont decide which lenses are better.

I have k-30, and I would like to take landscape photos, and I cannot decide which lenses are better. I have heard that the smc 18-55mm DA AL II kit lens is great, but is it as great as the 16-45 f4 Lens? I know there is a difference between the prices. So which is better for the price. If the 16-45 is much better, I pay the difference.
Thanks for helping.

16-45 is a nice lens, better by most reports than the 18-55 but also 2mm wider which might be important.

Here is the review section for that lens: SMC Pentax-DA 16-45mm F4 Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
Another alternative which is also very good but more expensive is the 16-85: HD Pentax-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

If price is important the 16-45 will work just fine. If you have the budget though the 16-85 is much newer with silent AF, weather sealing and a much longer focal range.

If you want to know more about the 16-45, @Tsuken has used it extensively and may be able to fill you in better on its strong and weak points.

I upgraded from the 18-55 to the 16-45 and noticed the difference, then to the 17-70, and now the 16-85. Changes were smaller each time, but noticeable.

hmmmm.. sounds like you're headed for an 18-135.

The 16-45 is a very nice lens, but fairly unwieldy (and extends a long way at the 16mm end!) I renders nicely though. In general, have a look at the lens reviews on this site. They are very comprehensive and give a good flavour for what the lens can actually do!
I now have the 16-85WR as my kit lens, having previously used the 18-135WR - I do prefer the 16-85, a generally more punchy lens and probably equal to the 16-45 (and weather resistant too) although all three lenses are superior to the 18-55.

I have the Pentax 16-85. It is a very nice lens and renders superior results. The AF utilizes a DC motor in the lens and the lens is WR (weather resistant).

Check out the above lens club. Many there use the 16-45. Also, as others mentioned, check the reviews. Good luck in your search.
