How to change to single point focus

i use back button focus with my AF mode button. Now I've accidentally changed my focusing points and can't get back to single point. The manual says to do it by the AF mode dial but that doesn't seem to work with my setup. I'm sitting in the middle of a field in the middle of a photo shoot. Help! Thanks

What camera model? If it's a flagship body (K10D, K-5, etc), set the AF mode dial on the back to single-point. (marked with a box with a dot inside). For non-flagship models, you'll have to dive into the menus and look for AF mode settings.

What camera? On the K-5, you change to SEL or single-point with the dial and you use the four-way controller to move the point around. You have to hold down the OK button in the middle to switch control back and forth from the focus points to the outer menu functions (it will beep). Not sure if newer models work the same...

It's a K3. Doesn't seem to be working but I'm having one of those temporary brain melts where I'm mixing up exposure mode buttons and focus point button settings. Might have something to do with the fact that there are pigs chewing my clothes right now.

When you just want to use youre centre AF point push INFO activate the AF point menu (far right 3. row) and turn your back wheel to the desired AF setting then accept with OK.
I hope this is what you where looking for

Hold down the AF Mode button. Front e-dial changes between AF.S, AF.C, and AF.A. Rear e-dial switches between Spot, Auto, and Sel modes.

AF mode button on the left side of the camera just above the manual/auto switch. Hold this down and use the rear e-dial to change what points you want to use.

When the brain is melting, the camera manual is our friend. I have the PDF version (downloaded from Ricoh) available for reference on both my desktop and laptop computers and may add it to my phone as well, in case I miss something in the field.

The AF mode selection on the K-3 is actually pretty cool once you get used to it. The only part that is clumsy (IMHO) is switching into/out of the AF point select mode for the 4-way on the back of the camera.

As requested

I was photographing at Catskill Animal Sanctuary (a sanctuary for farmed animals), where I volunteer as a photographer. It's often a muddy experience, but well worth it for the kisses and snuggles.

Thank you to everyone who pitched in to help me. I knew I could count on the Pentax Forum members.
