Gamble? Without fungus, It's a $200-$300 lens. This lens could be resold for EUR100 easy for parts alone.

on ff or crop? size of the image area could be a factor, crop would have the lowest risk.

65 euro? seems like a bit too much of a gamble.

if it was a bargain at 65 euro it would be gone already... where are you seeing $200-$300 pricing on those lenses.

153 euro, england: Asahi Pentax SMC Pentax A F2 8 24mm Lens | eBay

170 euro, from france: Objectif SMC Pentax A 2 8 24 MM TBE | eBay

$80 buy it now: Pentax A 24mm 2 8 SMC Wide Angle Lens Excellent Condition Free Shipping | eBay

That last one sold. I think posting it here may have been the push it needed. I was going to go buy it but it was gone.

$80 would have been a good deal, if it was clean.

keh has a bgn version for $228, which is ridiculous pricing... compare it to an ex fdn 24/2.8 that they also have, for $139; better pq for less money, although mechanically it just doesn't feel as nice as the k24/2.8 that i had.

You are either completely out of touch with the market value of this lens or are being purposely obtuse.

$200 would be a good deal if it was clean. Recent ebay listings have also sold at as high as $350. The key to determining what price the market will really bear for a lens is to look at the going rate for sold fixed price listings, rather than auctions, which have too many variables affecting them (poor pictures, unkowledgeable sellers, weird end times, etc.) and to not cherrypick rare outliers like the $80 one that are surrounded by several others with much higher prices.

Here's a $350 finished listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXC-SMC-PENTAX-A-24mm-F-2-8-Free-EMS-Shipping-F-S-fr...AAAOSw-tNXH~Yx

And here are some with more typical pricing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXC-SMC-PENTAX-A-24mm-F-2-8-Free-EMS-Shipping-F-S-fr...AAAOSw-tNXH~Yx
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXC-SMC-PENTAX-A-24mm-F-2-8-Free-EMS-Shipping-F-S-fr...kAAOSwPc9WwDnS
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SMC-PENTAX-A-24mm-F2-8-WIDE-ANGLE-LENS-W-CAPS-FILTER...gAAOSwrklVCagS

$228 for a bgn condition is only slightly high. The average price on this lens on the reviews here is $223, and those tend to skew low because most of the reviews are several years old.

And oh, BTW, 170 Euro is just about $200 (194.51 to be exact, and for an auction at that).

Comparing across models is pointless, since rarity has a lot to do with the value of lenses as well.

Of course, given your utter disingenuousness, misdirection, cherrypicking of facts, and outright trolling in other threads where we've crossed paths, I can only guess you are continuing to try (and once again failing) at trying to make me look wrong because I bruised your ego by exposing your foolishness in our previous encounters.

the o.p. quoted euros? so that's the ebay market that i looked at; every link i posted had a european ebay url.

you on the other hand, posted nothing relevant to where the o.p. is located, and you completely failed to prove that a damaged parts lens can sell for $100, which is what the thread is really about.

gee that's funny, it says that it's a $219.99 finished listing...

i didn't "make you look wrong" there, you did it to yourself, lol... deja vu.

Let us know how it goes. Seems like a good deal. I paid $170 for mine ( I got a really good deal). Average price here in the States is perhaps $225. Yes, they are hard to find.

I got my lens today and tried to disassemble... the ring around the lens group was tight as hell but I managed to unscrew it.
But somehow there are no other screws like in this thread

The lens looks like this... no screws but it seems to have an additional ring. Has anyone an idea how I will get to the first lens group??

Any help deeply appreciated

If you watch carefully you see a little gap in the outer ring. Can this do the trick!?

Please note that you need to read the entire thread. It appears to have enough info despite broken links.

a lens spanner wrench on those two notches looks like it would unscrew the front lens group, but what you want to do is to remove the front piece of glass, how is that held into the lens group?

the photos seem to suggest that there is a round ring holding the front piece of glass in, i've seen that with some minolta lenses, with those lenses you can unscrew the ring from the lens group, it's only hand-tight, and the front piece of glass will fall right out.
