Tamron 28-75mm aperture problem

My trusty old Tamron 28-75mm has suddenly developed an aperture problem, so before I toss it I figured I'd see if anybody had any suggestions.

The aperture lever is stiff, but it is still possible to open and close the blades. However, the aperture ring does nothing. It still feels the same, but simply has no effect on the blades. When used on the camera, the lens seems to be stuck on wide-open, regardless of what the camera shows.

I spent a few minutes on Google, but I have't been able to find anyone else with the same problem yet.

Give Tamron a call at 1-800-827-8880. They will check the serial number to let you know if they will fix it. (If it was a Grey Market they won't touch it) They quoted me $140 - $250 depending on the problem. Not too bad of a price for a great lens which works outstanding on the K-1.

Is there oil on the blades causing them to be stiff and not stop down correctly?

If Tamron doesn't work out, you might try Eric....although I don't know if he'll work on Tamron. Might be worth a try.

Just a thought.....good luck.
