Though they were perfectly fine for a small photo in a yearbook or paper
I'd wager those unsharp negatives wouldn't hold up to enlargement to 5x7 or 8x10.

Over time our standards for sharpness change, too. Even among my properly exposed
early photos on close examination so many suffered motion blur or missed focus.
I'd never consider wasting a sheet of paper enlarging most of them now.

Funny, they all looked great on the contact sheet...

I have wondered about that. My 40th high school reunion was a couple of years ago and I was dismayed to discover that there was a darkroom fire in the late 1980s that resulted in the loss of all the filed negatives. I would have loved to have scanned them.

Two feet of flood water in my apartment from Superstorm Sandy destroyed
all my personal photos, negatives and slides from 40 years of photography.

I have tried to be optimistic about the opportunity for a "fresh start"
but I sure wish I could have them back...

Can this thread please be renamed to correct the spelling for Rikenon? My OCD brain almost throws a fit whenever I see the title
