Tamron 80-250 mm F/ 3.8-4.5 Adaptall model QZ-250M

I recently bought the above lens on ebay. Unfortunately I cannot find any reviews of this specific lens other than Tamron Adaptall 1 80-250mm F3.8 (Z250) Lens Reviews - Tamron Adaptall Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database. This review covers a 72mm filter thread mine is 62mm filter thread. Hoping someone has had or uses a lens like this and can provide any information. I bought this lens as I already own the Tamron sp 60-300mm.

I have this lens too. Classic early adaptall, good resolution stopped down indeed competitive IMO with eg Vivitar series 1's, wouldn't presume to match it against the later and vastly superior SP 23A but it is interesting and educational to see both what it can do and what you can get out of it.
I did some testing of its macro mode, there were a number of lens designs during this period that achieved reasonably strong magnification by juggling with the optical groups - the kiron VS1 for example - but really I wasn't impressed.

just reminded me that I haven't tried any of my old manual lenses including a few adaptall recently. I used to really like the 24-48 and 35-80. i've also got one of their SP adaptall2 200ish mm zooms and the strange one that has builtin auto focus.

Thanks for the replies. I bought this lens for 2 reasons.
1. It is one of the few longer zoom lenses that has F4.5 at 250mm, most modern lenses cost far greater than the $6AUD I paid for the Tamron, most only give you F5.6. I was also looking for a lens that still has good IQ at the wide open F stop setting as I like to use teleextenders this lens will give me 500mm focal length with PK 2x telextender and still have good results. I also have the Tamron Adaptall-2 80-210mm f/3.8-4 (03A) this lens seems to give very ordinary results at f 4.0.
2. Tamron 80-250 mm F/ 3.8-4.5 Adaptall model QZ-250M also came with Adaptall-2 Olympus OM adapter. This means I can with a OM-EOS focus confirm adapter connect to a C-AF 1.4x Teleplus MC4 (Canon EF mount). I then connect to my Canon 550D, with 350mm focal length from F4.5 to F5.6. Focus confirm only working up to F5.6 on the Canon.
A lot of photography using these lenses with modern DSLR cameras is trial and error. If anyone else has any other ideas I would like to hear.
I already notice that my Pentax 20D will give focus confirm with the Tamron 80-250mm at f11. Canon 550D cuts out after f8 and F8 is slow to focus confirm, best at f5.6.
Thanks to all.
