Sorry I am unfamiliar with the WG-4, but when I use filters or lens hoods on my dslr I use which ever mode I usually use regardless of the filter or hood.

A filter may stop some light from entering the camera, requiring a slower shutter speed or larger aperture or greater iso settings.
A lens hood would not affect the camera settings. A hood removes some lens flare and can inhibits a photo from appearing washed out.

I usually shoot using Av mode so that I can control the depth of field and the camera controls the remaining variables.
