Thin black line in images - card error?

I might do some experimenting with the original images to see what I can come up with.

One shot from the same location today, on the other side of the road.

(Why did the photographer cross the road anyhow?)

I sincerely believe that we've all done either that or similarly-human-based errors... glad it wasn't a 'serious' issue...
