What time is it?

Once again I turn to the PF. I have a K-r with a problem. Anytime I remove or change the batteries, the time resets. I (if I happen to remember) have to reset the date/time. If I'm in a hurry or I don't know the date and time, the camera records the wrong date and time in the exif. Any ideas? Thanks!

There's probably a small battery or capacitor inside that died. Does it happen even if you take the battery out for mere seconds?

As DeadJohn says, internal battery that retains parameters in memory has died, or is just showing its age.

Do you normally leave the camera with the main battery in place? If not, you could try leaving the (fully charged) main battery in place for a few days as it will then charge the internal battery, assuming the internal battery is ok. Set the time/date.

If after a few days you remove the main battery, etc, and the date resets then the internal battery is definitely no longer servable. It will probably cost more than the body is worth to get it fixed I'm afraid, so either good time for an upgrade or just live with the problem.

I so appreciate the replies. I suspected that there was an internal battery but didn't know if it was replaceable. Yes it resets even if the battery is just unseated and then reseated. And no leaving a fully charged battery doesn't help the problem. Being a cheapskate (As well as still liking the K-r) I'll just live with it and try to remember to set the time anytime I remove the battery. I know I can always rely on the knowledge on the PF. Thanks again!
