Thanks eveyone for your responses.
I have moved Collar in both the states few times but same story.

I have uploaded the video here as well. See Lens is constently hunting for the focus and never be able to get any sharp focus.

the best lens i have had. crazy pricing now a days, if i was in your country i would have happly reworked the lens for you.
what i suggest is that rehouse the front glass element, the rear optical unit, slip the rubber, there would be those three holes rotate so the screws align, remove the screw and the top unit of the top unit check if the fitting is right. not tough at all.
would love to have the lens albeit as gift, in place of this i have purchased tamron adaptall 300/2.8 -107B, yet to arrive

Thanks Uttam. Where are you from?
I do not want to spoil this lens further unless the repair cost is too high. I will go to CR Kennedy service centre and see if they can fix it with reasonable price.

Just spoken CR Kenneddy, They have indicated that Pentax-Japan has stopped servicing legacy pentax lenses. Hence this one can't be repaired. :-(.

First - is returning it not an option? Second - Pentax may not make parts or offer service on it but that doesn't necessarily mean the lens can't be repaired. Depending on what is actually wrong there are people who might be able to service it.

You don't, by chance, have a UV filter on the front of it, do you?

it has a min focus range, as all lens, but this is larger, try focussing in the range its not designed for it will hunt, F*300 focus is very quick no hunting

official repair is out of question, if that was so i would be having my F*300 up and running, mine has front glass element damaged

It was a stressful process for me buying directly from Japan and returning the goods. How did you buy yours?
Thanks

When watching the video, it seemed to me that the autofocus assist light on the camera was getting blocked by the actual lens body. Have you tried with the autofocus assist switched off (if this body can do that ?) to see if focus can be achieved that way ?
