Hi Bruce
The Electronic Level feature in our cameras is extremely useful. However, it's not at all uncommon for factory-fresh cameras to have a slightly mis-calibrated level, consistently showing a perfectly level camera to be several degrees off.
Pentax cameras (and, to be fair, those I've tried from some other manufacturers) require factory or service centre adjustment to fix any inaccuracy, meaning that the camera has to be sent in for warranty repair. My $150 tablet, on the other hand, provides a simple user calibration procedure to reset the level based on the current position and angle of the unit. I therefore surmise that it's not technically complicated to provide such a feature (in the same way that we can fine tune AF adjustment as an offset from factory settings).
I believe this would be a highly useful, attractive and much appreciated improvement. And, if it's possible to add the feature to existing cameras via firmware update, that would be a most valued update.
Thanks for your consideration of the above
