K-30 catch in focus function not working

Okay, I've used the "catch in focus" feature before, but today I decided to use it to take some macro shots and I can't get the thing to work. I've tried everything. At first I thought it was just because I was using a macro tube, but I mounted my 50mm prime normally, and it still isn't working. Also, the little focus indicator beep with the red square isn't showing up either.

Some info:
  1. I'm shooting in manual as I only have legacy glass (SMC-m primes).
  2. I have the camera set to AF.S.
  3. Catch in focus is on (2).
I don't know what else to check. Is there another setting that might be turned on that would disable CIF?

Focus mode switch to AF-S position? AF-S in custom settings set to "focus priority"?

Your macro tube may be a problem too. IIRC, your camera requires that a mount that conducts electricity be present for CIF to work. Most extension tubes are either painted or anodized and are not conductive.

Well, I never could find out what was conflicting, so I just reset all settings to default and started from scratch. That seems to have worked :-)
