"sensor size" EXIF vs published value for photogrammetry

For my K-50, the published sensor size is 23.7mm x 15.7mm. When I look at the EXIF file, it says the sensor size is 24.122mm x 15.976mm. The only guess I have is that the EXIF size is the actual size but the camera crops it down a little bit.

Does anybody know for sure what the difference is?

Thanks,
Dan

This is par for the course. Camera manufacturers often leave a strip of pixels along one side for calibration purposes and other internal uses.

IBIS needs some space too.

But IBIS is not a part of this difference. IBIS moves the sensor around, it doesn't change its size or consume some of the pixel rows or columns. To be exact, In Pentax APS-C and FF systems the sensor may move up to 1,5 mm, left, right, up or down, from the center position, and/or rotate within the same frames.
