eclipse

I have a k3, with a sigma 50 to500mm lens, and, apentax1.4 tell converter I am going to photograph the eclipse this Aug.. I have tried to photograph the son, I have a solar filter, I can't get the shutter to work with the converter only when I photograph the son or the moon. It does work on other wise. Any suggestions.

Hi Austin,

Is your autofocus turned on?

If it is, the camera probably won't let you shoot unless it's in focus, but with the solar filter, there's not much for it to focus with.

Welcome to the forum, as already suggested it's got to be a focus issue, or rather a lack of focus... when using this filter.

IIRC there is a spot in the "custom settings" to allow the shutter to trip without focus confirmation. But for shooting the sun with the filter on you are probably better off in manual focus mode, live view and 4x magnification. I really need to drag my K3, Sigma 150-500 and solar filter out and work out my exposures for August.
