BTW, I rarely remove the grip on my K-3. I set the battery in the grip as primary and swap with a spare & charge it. The battery in the camera rarely needs charging although I do swap it occasionally to even out usage on the batteries.
Yes what you are saying makes complete sense, but I only use my grip when I have on my 70-200mm or 100-300mm. When I use my primes, it is pure overkill to keep on my grip. In a quick change situation, i don't want to chance losing the seal gasket. However your point is correct, but why should I settle for a defective product, if in fact this is a defect.

Sounds like no one else has my issue.
