K200D and Split Screen focus

I recently purchased a split focusing screen for my Pentax K200D. I was lucky enough to buy a K 50mm 1.2, but it's damn hard to nail focus wide open, especially with my eyesight. Anyway, the split screen is a generic version from ebay. i.e. a Chinese made version as opposed to the Katzeye which I don't think are produced anymore.
Problem is getting the old screen out. There's some info online for changing screens for Kr's and other Pentax models, but none specifically for the K200D. I'm having problems getting the old screen out. Is there a trick to this or do I just need to persevere. I'm worried I might damage something in there if I keep trying. Thoughts anyone?
