W90 Shutter button Problem

So I hadn't used this in awhile. Finally had a family trip to the waterpark coming up. Ordered a fresh battery as it had been a couple years, and charged it up. Got to the waterpark, everything was fine. Got about 78 pictures off ,and then suddenly.. I couldn't take a picture. I could turn it on, every button seemed to work. But couldn't focus and take a picture. Shortly after the battery seemed to die.

I got home, charged the battery a bit, and the camera turns back on, However, I still can't take a picture. I can go into settings (did a reset) change all the modes, and do basically everything except active the shutter. Any thoughts on what's going on? Anyway to fix it? This is well out of warranty now..but it's a good little camera.

As an update..sometimes when I turn on the camera. None of the buttons will work except the shutter button.. pushing it and it takes a picture, I can take two pictures (with flash, but I have flash turned off) then it stops working. This tells me the button isn't physically broken as the shutter button does cause a picture to be taken. Turn it off and on again and then the other buttons are all back to normal, but the shutter can't take a picture.

Conclusion I guess...
I took it over to the pentax repair center today took it out to show them the problem and it was working completely fine. Could this have been caused by the heated water at the waterpark? Their regular pools were all heated and they even had some warmer "hot tub" temperature pools that were in the 37-39 degree Celsius range
