Number Counter Reset??

Can anyone tell me how i can reset my number counter for the amount of photos i will be taking? I pressed some button somewhere ( which for the life of me i can't find ) which said continuous or renew? I pressed renew and now the counter goes back to 001 every day regardless? it also now does not number past 500 and goes back to 001. I just did a wedding and took over all 720 photos but i the counter went back to 001 after 500 so now when i downloaded them i have the original 001 plus 001 (1) which i want to read 501??? and so on? I want the numbering to just keep going up to whatever it can? and i know it goes beyond 500 as i have had it this way before? If anyone can help i would very much appreciate it. Jackie

Wrench menu 3, item "File No." controls this. You want it set to "Sequential Numbering"

OK. I described how it works for the K-1. It sounds like your camera's menus are more like the K-5's which has a "File No" tick box in one of the "Rec" menus. Ticking it "on" should give you sequential numbering.

If you don't have the File No. checked under memory the file number will reset to 0001 whenever a new folder is started.
