Lens compability: Will Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8 or Pentax DA 16-50 mount on a K10?

As I understand, both lenses are younger than my K10 house. Will they work problem free on my beloved old house?

I believe you would want to convert the Pentax 16-50 to screwdrive focus for use on a K10D.

There's testing of these two lenses, and the Sigma 17-50, here by the Pentax Forums staff. Honestly I wouldn't pay the premium for the Pentax and get either of the other two lenses. The Tamron is quite good but the Sigma has its fans as well.

Or upgrade to firmware 1.3

Both lenses should work fine.

I used my DA*16-50 on my K10D with no issues. Like others said just make sure you update the firmware.

The Tamron will work regardless of firmware version, but, generally speaking, it's best to always have the latest firmware.

K10D with firmware 1.00, 1.10, 1.20 will work in screwdrive mode with 16-50 right from the box.
K10D with firmware 1.30 will work in SDM mode with 16-50.
