Trigger delay associated with flash

Here's a strange one.
Last weekend it was hot, and I thought this was an associated problem. Changing lenses proved it was not.

When my K3II has the Sunpak flash on and powered, it has a half-second delay. It doesn't happen when the flash is not active. It didn't happen before last weekend.
As far as I can tell, there is no change in programming or lens settings which might cause this.

I'm open to suggestions. As you might imagine this puts a damper on my macro work.

This is a very well-known issue with the K3, and I think the K3ii. It happens with P-TTL. If it wasn't happening before, were you using a different mode?

No, in Manual both on flash and camera. I will investigate whether there was some change to the flash mode, but I don't think so. It worked perfectly for 2 years with this flash.

I did get the Square Trade insurance policy, I wonder whether this will be acceptable as a claim? I've got two months remaining on that policy.

This case is closed. I ran a reset in the camera which fixed the issue. I don't know what setting got knocked out of whack, but everything works fine now. It did take a little while to get all my preferences changed after the reset.

I don't know what went wrong with the camera. My fix was a Factory Settings Reset. Have a look in the manual index, or hunt in the menu. It's kind of a pain to go back and set it back up the way you want but it fixed whatever was wrong. It's been fine since so it must have been some inadvertent button-smashing at some point. I usually remember to turn the camera off before letting it hang from the strap, but not always.
