Will SMC A 1.4 70-210mm work with K1000?

I have a K1000 and am looking at a SMC A 1.4 70-210mm lens locally. Iíd just like to make sure this lens will work with a full manual camera before I buy it. Thank you

Yes. You won't be able to use the A setting of the lens but you can still use it as a K or M lens.

I'd say f/4, not 1.4... though I would like such a lens (esp. if it is carried by someone else :P )

You can always check the lens reviews here on the Forum to see what others think of a lens, as well as price range:

(Click on "Lenses" up at the top of a page, and then click on "Pentax lens reviews")

If the lens is in good condition and in your budget (hopefully it is much cheaper than the average price paid in the reviews on the forum, I paid more for the P&P than the lens when I bought it) you will find it is a pretty good lens. Probably my personal favourite manual lens up to 210mm though I tend to go for my Tamron SP 60-300mm for the extra length.
A bonus is that it can be used on Pentax digital cameras with the "A" aperture setting providing some data (but you have to input focal length used).
As mentioned by other posters, check out the lens review.

Yep the A70-210/4 is my favourite zoom in this focal range. Well worth the money and not too big in size.

That lens is one of my favorite film era tele lenses. Sounds like a great pairing!

It will work just fine on the K1000.
It is a nice sharp lens and a keeper.

Thank you so much for all the replies, this forum seems very active and I love it! Iím new to photography and this is my first camera besides my old polaroids which are fun but expensive to use.
