77mm 1.8 limited

Can anyone tell me of there is any difference between the japan model and the U.S. model, and how does this lens perform of the K-1 ?

AIV - Assembled in Vietnam or MIJ Made in Japan are the only options I know of. There is a slight preference for MIJ by collectors but no good data suggests any reason one should be preferred over the other.

EDITED: OH - yes the box and the paperwork and the warranty. These differ by country sold from.

Pentax used to have a factory in Japan. They don't any more, and now all lenses are made in Vietnam.

Apart from the MIJ label on the lens, there's no optical/mechanical difference between the two.

Probably the same difference as between the black and silver version.
I've been quite happy with mine (silver mij...) on the K-1.

Great lens on the K-1 although in some situations you need to remove CA from time to time. Totally worth it!

If you are interested in one, I'm selling a black MIJ version in the Marketplace.

I've rented the K-1 twice (selling some lenses to fund a K-1 of my own) and the 77 is super on it like the K-3. The CA is noticeable in some situations, but easy to fix. Its rendering is superb and it is very sharp. I just prefer the FA*85 f/1.4 and its speed, sharpness, and rendering.

The 77 is a very solidly built lens and is a perfect size lens to take with you wherever you go, as it's great for landscapes, portraits, and macros (with a Raynox 250).

Well very much appreciated, everyone, I wasn't sure, this has the box and paperwork but says it was made in Japan but it is a used lens but says it is mint condition,12 pics and I can see nothing wrong with it, $600.00 plus shipping ...so I was torn between this and the 31mm limited... which is a little more...

... except for the ones made by Tamron in Japan (e.g. DFA 15-30).

So if you were going to get a limited for the K-1, which one for all around shooting everything, 77mm limited or 31mm limited?

That's easy. The 43mm limited.

These are with a Made in Vietnam copy of the 77mm on the K1.

I agree with Paul that if you wanted a single lens for everything on the K1, that the 43mm is more versatile than the 31mm or 77mm.

What Paul said. The 43.
But if I had to choose between the 31 and the 77..... I'd probably keep the 77. maybe. i dunno.

MIJ and MIV pentax 77 limited are the same optical lens. The problem is that when pentax started the production of the first 77 limited made in Vietnam, production control didn't be very good and the first series had too many construccion or optical problems.
