Did you enable the correct custom function to be able to use manual lenses?

There's also the possibility of an anodized mount, which will be non-conductive, and the camera won't know that there's actually a lens there. Had this same issue with my Kalt 28mm and the user reviews say some exist that way as well with this lens.

Dipo 1 here, a very interesting post. I have 2 SMC lenses, an 18 to 55mm and a 50 to 200mm zoom, wish I had gone to 300mm, one Asahi Pentax 55mm, one AP 85mm and one AP 135mm. for a total of 5 lenses. I have a K5 camera and have found that I usually end up using the SMC 50 to 200 zoom or the 55 mm Asahi Pentax. Occasionally I'll use the 85mm, but that is from personal preference rather than some photographic need. Collecting lenses is like smoking crack, very addictive, very addictive indeed, plus it can become very expensive, you only have 2 hands and one camera, unless you buy multiple cameras, way too expensive for me, also cant see my self walking round with 10 cameras around my neck, too much dead weight. Best advice I can give is learn to use the camera you own with a good lenses somewhere around 50mm, spend time figuring out what you want to take pictures of and last try to have fun using these amazing tools/toys. Don't buy a bunch of lenses that sit in the box on a shelf. Again, the object is to have fun taking pictures, when you show off the pictures few people will really want to know what camera or lenses you used. Unless you post them on this site then folks may want to know the technical details. Again it is about having fun.
