K-x won't start

My Pentax K-x won't start. I've put new batteries in but nothing happens, no lights, nothing. The last time I used it was about a year ago and there was no issue then.

Please help!

Initial first thoughts, Are the batteries in the correct way and are they fresh or ones you had laying around ??

100% batteries are in the correct way, taken from an unopened packet. I've tried other batteries as well.

Welcome aboard, were old batteries left in from before and have they leaked or anything like that?

no they weren't. I've always had Sony rechargeable batteries but when I went to recharge them recently they wouldn't charge. They were quite old but there's no leakage or the likes in the battery compartment.

I have thanks. I came across another thread somewhere that said to take the lens off, put in the batteries then wait a minute then turn on. It's working now.
