Fog in Lens

Bismillah

I have the opportunity to buy an SMC 35mm f3.5 but it has some slight fog around the edges visible in the front element. Should I buy; what are the concerns of a little fog in a lens? Right now it’s not impacting the IQ, but can it spread and end up doing so later? Thanks.

If the "fog" is element separation, it can certainly grow worse over time but it may take years or decades to grow worse.

I'd be skeptical of claims it does not affect IQ unless you will always use the lens on a APS-C camera and never use it in high-contrast, back-lit situations.

Thanks for your knowledge. How do I know if it’s element separation?

There's only a single element on the front 'group' of that lens, so it's not separation. I'd pay maybe XXXXX in the condition you describe. I've had a few, I have three super tak versions now. That seems like a good place to stop buying them, I made an error here, the price I quoted above would be for the super tak or s-m-c version, if you're talking about the K mount SMC, the price would be higher imo.
