Pop- up Flash

Hi

I have a K5 and a problem with the pop-up flash. When the flash is open the shutter wont fire and no flash, camera works ok with the flash closed. In the custom menu No 20 (Relese While Charging) the shutter will fire. I have reset custom functions and reset still the flash will not opperate. Help !!!

Have you got the shutter speed set faster than 1/180 sec? Pentax cameras will not fire the flash above that speed.

Thank you ror your reply. No the flash not working at speeds under I/180s. If there is no fix for this fault would an external flash work ?

Sounds like your pop up flash is no longer working.

You should be able to use an external flash on the hotshoe.
