One must factor pickles into the equation too since pickle magnification is not the same as optical magnification. The same is true for grainy film.

I tried once, you have to use a perfect macro lens if you want to get a good photo: CA, PF and diffraction can become huge.

Practical example: K-3 vs K-1, same lens and same macro ratio (60mm, 2:1):

OK, I'll bite, what's the difference?

If my K-1 puts 15 Pickles on my subject and my K-3 puts 24, the K-1 puts out 2100 lw/ph and the K-3 puts out 2700 lw/ph. How are they not the same? More pickles - more lw/ph.

I think part of the answer has to do with GSB (Gherkins per Square Bottle).

Well that’s the problem isn’t it? Real pickleographers only shoot with full frame Gherkins.

Man, this is just silly.

You say that like there's something wrong with that.
It all goes towards the 40,000 K-1 give away total.

It is clear that it is utterly impossible to say 40,000 sensible things about Pentax in a month (lifetime?). Encouraging verbal flatulence on this site does humanity no favours. It is quality that should be encouraged, not quantity.

When has sensibility ever been a requirement of posting on this site?
I don't know about others, but I come here for entertainment, and occasionally learn something too,
Bring on the gherkins!

If it were up to me to make 40K comments. you might be right.
But this is contributions from the entire community {images as well as words}, plus reactions, plus reactions to the reactions, etc.
Sometimes you get quality by sifting through the quantity.
You aren't required to participate - you can practice for your role of Scrooge if you'd rather.

Lately i have been doing alot of macro of very tiny insects. 5mm creatures need alot of crop at 1:1. So a reversed 50mm on my 55-300 plm gives me much more magnification. I just practiced at 2:1 on a zesty pickle. Yep macro pickles are a thing. Not so sure of mega pickles.
