Shutter behavior with bracketing on K-1 vis-a-vis K5

Odd shutter behavior on new K-1 compared to K-5 2s.

I have been used to using my old K5 to take (usually) three bracketed images in preparation for HDR processing. The K5 takes three images regardless of whether you press-and-hold or press-and-release the shutter button, and regardless of whether you are using a cable release.

Now I have a new K1 and expected the same behavior. Instead, the K1 requires press-and-hold to get all three bracketed images. If you press-and-release, I have found that you are likely to get only two images. (Once I got four, but I have not been able to duplicate that.) As you can imagine, this messes up batch HDR processing.

Further, if you are using the IR remote with the K1, you must press it three times to get the three bracketed images. This could mean more of a delay than I would like to see.

There are other comparison oddities, but I'll limit this thread to this one issue. Any thoughts? Some setting I may have missed?

Specs: K1 Firmware 1.43; K5 2s Firmware 1.07

Sounds strange. Did you enable One-push bracketing (I believe it's called)? Otherwise you will indeed have to push once for each frame.

I'm not sure I have done any bracketing with the K-1. The wide dynamic range has covered all my need so far. Don't have it with me right now, so can't check. I did occasionally bracket on the K-5 and K-3.

This also happened to me with the K-01... shoot once: normal... shoot again keeping depressed: dark - light (or whatever the order).
Never investigated further, as the behavior seemed logic.

Indeed, it sounds like you haven't enabled it.

If your raw software supports it, you can also achieve even more automation through the K-1's HDR mode, which will merge three files into one (they can later be split if needed).

Have you got custom menu 2, option 12 for one push bracketing on?

Though I don't have a K1, I've looked at my K20D, K50, K3 and all have the "One-Push Bracketing" set to 2 (on). This setting is in custom menu (#9) on the K3.
I would like to think the K1 is similar with this setting and you only need to toggle it to behave like you want.

Thanks to all!

Thank you so very much for steering me in the right direction. I had overlooked the "One-Push Bracketing" option on the K1. Setting that, all seems well and just as I want it to be.
