This site was one of the reasons I chose Pentax. The sites for the other brands had nowhere near the member participation or helpfulness of this site.

This I can agree with completely. When I was looking to go digital, I had no specific brand in mind. Lurking this site, I was able to get the information I needed to make my decision, based on real world use.

I’ve had no reason to change brands as Pentax does what I need a system to do, including shooting professionally.

Glad you are here!

This forum is a fantastic resource. I find that this is my first "go to" site for anything photo related, not just Pentax related. The knowledge base of this community is invaluable. Very happy to be a part of it.

It looks like the same as this:

Vivitar V2000 Manual Focus SLR Camera Vivitar 35-70mm f/3.5-4.8 Lens | eBay

Will this lens can be used in KS2?

Unfortunately, with the introduction of the "KA" mount
This lens is a K mount (not a KA) so logically it has no 'Ricoh pin'.

The other trap is the shield that protects the aperture stop down lever.
This lens has a short 'shield'.

It is the same, it's the Vivitar 35-70mm f3.5-4.8 "MACRO FOCUSING ZOOM" made by Cosina (info from my database).

Can you use Catch in Focus with the K100? That might affect your settings too, in that case AF.S is your preferred mode, even with a manual focus camera.

We call that part the aperture lever.

Read this. Your lens does NOT have this problem.

The pin being referred to is the 'Ricoh' pin, see here and here (little brass coloured pin on the left).

Your lens does NOT have this pin.

So it should be safe for you to use.
