I got a used pentax me super (wasn't sure if working properly or not). I tested it without the film in and I'm pretty sure it sounded normally. I loaded a 400 film made sure that the asa dial is set correctly, then took it for a walk on a cloudy but bright day and tried taking some pics both auto and manual. Both times it sounded oddly slow, like the shutter lifts and then falls back down 1-2secs later. My aperture was around 2.8 and my speed was mainly 1000 or 2000. The shutter actually sounded little quicker on 500. I'm worried cause it doesn't seem right for the shutter to be up for so long in a 1000 or 2000 speed and probably the photos will turn out blurry and overexposed. Could this be a faulty shutter or it this normal for the shutter in this pentax to work this slowly?
Thats not the shutter you are hearing, it is the mirror. In a SLR camera the mirror always moves first, before the shutter opens, and moves again last, after the shutter closes. You may have a sticky or lazy mirror operation. it probably wont affect the shutter. Get the film developed to find out !
