On manual? That's when you set the ISO, not the camera.

I don't have my camera in front of me but I don't think that auto ISO works in "M" mode

I don't know, when i used my K 10D, on manual, everything is manual , i used reverse ring so i can't have the A-F, i used the intern flash and choose the ISO, close the diaphragm to F/16or F/22 to have some depth of field.

There is an "auto" mode which is like Manual but with auto-ISO, it is called TAv mode. Alas your camera did not have it.

Yup, I believe TAv started with the K10D and then made its way onto future models, either by being baked into M mode (whenever auto ISO is on), or via a dedicated mode.

On the K10D auto ISO does not work in "M" (manual) mode. As long as you have an "A" lens mounted use TAv and the ISO will show in the viewfinder. Set the shutter and f-stop with the eDials. In other modes, ISO shows in the viewfinder depending on how you have the eDials set in the Custom menu. If you press the OK button and the ISO should show in the viewfinder. Operation should be about the same on the K100D unless it lacks some features of the K10D.
