Problem with my k3 and ring flash af160 fc

Hi everyone,
I have been using for a few years a K3 camera with macro 100 mm wr and a ring flash AF160FC. A few days ago I wanted to take some pictures and the EV meter pointed to -5.0 (having enough light in the room). Then, I took the pictures and the photo is completely black (no exposure at all) even though the ring flash is working good. The settings used are ISO 200, 22 F , 1/200 sec. When I disconnet the ring flash from the camera the problem disappears.
I have been looking for answer in the instructions of the camera and the ring flash but I have not found any solution. I would appreciate any help .
Thanks in advance.

What was the exposure with the flash and what were the camera settings and flash settings?

Isn't the max sync speed of the K-3 1/180th sec?

I ran into a similar situation with my AF160FC ring flash to, mounted on my K-1, black pictures. It's an operator error issue. Switched mine back to AUTO for the PTTL and it worked fine. Then went back to manual and discovered that at F22, there wasn't enough light coming from the flash. The internal light meter in the camera isn't perfect (or even great) for close up work. If you want to get a more accurate reading, I'd suggest a hand held light meter. I'm still experimenting/learning to use my AF160FC (and I still get the occasional black picture due to operator error), so I don't claim to know all the ins and outs of the flash unit yet. I'm sure there are others who can chime in with a better explanation of why you're getting black pictures. Hopefully NAAS will comment, he's the runs the Extreme Macro site.

That is correct. At that setting the flash shouldn't fire. Good catch!

Thanks to everybody for the comments and tips. The pic attached was taken 2 weeks ago with the same ring light in AUTO and the setting was 1/180 F22 ISO 200. this week a try to take some photos of another patient, same settings, same ring flash and the result was pictures with no exposure at all (black). I went out side the office in a really sunny day at 4 pm to make a test with the settings in AUTO and the camera shows and ISO 200 with enough light to use an ISO 100. I am going to take all your advices and let all of you know.Thank you very much for your help, everybody.
