K-1 not recognising Samyang lenses

I recently bought a K-1 Mark I. When putting on my 14mm Samyang lens*, I am asked to input the focal lenght, as the camera cannot read it from the lens, but my older K20D on the same lens, does recognise it. Any idea how to make my K-1 to read that info too?

The firmware of the camera is up to date, 1.50. Incidentally, when asked to input the focal length, the closest I can get is 15 or 12 mm, but not 14.

The focal length 14mm is not transfered to the camera you have to input this information yourself for a correct working Shake Reduction system and to show the correct focal length in the metadata.
What should be transfered is the aperture (if your top display shows F-- it means your aperture ring is either not in the A position or you need to clean the contacts of the lens and camera mount before putting them together again.)

edit: the focal length isn't transfered to your K20D too, but if this is your only lens without focal length transmission to the camera you might have to input the focal length just once and never again, because it doesn't change.

I use samyang lenses on a K-1 mark I and it ask me the focal length when I switch the camera on.

Is shake reduction switched on on your K20D? If I remember correctly my K200D did not ask the focal length when shake reduction was switched of.

I select the focal length closest to the lens (15 for the 14mm lens) which makes it easier to remember what lens I was using. But I think it is safer to select a shorter focal length, so the shake reduction does not overcompensate.

Do you have "Use aperture ring" enabled in your settings?

This is normal for A-type lenses. The only automation this lens provides is with respect to the aperture setting.
