LX won't Fire after Attaching Winder

Hello,

I've received my Winder LX from Japan today, but once I install it on the camera and turning it on, the camera shutter no longer fires. Following the description of LX shutter not working when winder is turned on? - PentaxForums.com I found that the mechanical plunger that conveys the shutter release from camera to winder becomes stuck in C or S position. Does this indicate the winder is stuck or is it just a bad contact with the batteries (I've seen some corrosion on the battery tray)?

Sincerely

I love old film cameras and have a LX (amongst others) myself. But I have to say I question the wisdom of using a winder on a 25+ year old bit of kit. Be gentle with that baby.

Not what you wanted to hear I know, and I apologise if you feel I should not have posted.

Posts 7 & 8 of the thread mentioned seem to be the important ones as you've worked out. With the winder on my LX the shutter seems much more sensitive than without (post 7). With or without batteries, the pin (centre portion of the mechanical connector) can be depressed with the winder 'Off' but can't be with the winder in 'C' or 'S' (post 8). Presumably 'off' allows the pin to depress (by the plunger) so the camera can be fired and advanced manually when it's switched off.

There are reasons specific to my application that makes it necessary to use a winder.

I have been using winders with ME Super and Nikon FE2 with no problems.
