K3 flash sync speed

The flash on my K3 only works at 1/40 of a sec or slower.

Set the dial to X mode. That sets the shutter speed to 1/180.

I tried that. I thought it was the Yongnuo flash. Just bought the Af-200 FG flash and have same problem. Thanks

What mode is this in? in the auto modes the camera will try and balance ambient and flash light.

Best way to take full control of your shutter speed is to use manual exposure control and dial in up to 1/180

I don't have K3 but Kp. I'll turn to "MANUAL" mode and setting flash mode at "ON" when I want to use an external flash. You may set the HHS on your external flash, and it would work.

Sorry, wrong spelling. It's High-Speed Sync.

Is that supported on those flashes the op mentioned?

Also 1/40th is well below sync, in X mode the flashes should have fired.

I had tried the Yongnuo flash YN585 EX, and it works. AF201FG I am not sure about it. I have tried YN585 EX & JY610 II. The method I mentioned is ok. Or it may work if you try to restore the original setting, and try it again.

If that's all there is to report about it then the camera is faulty .... Get it repaired or replaced.

I have that flash and it allows for the natural sync of 1/180, but mine are on a K-30, K-50, and a K-5.

I have tried manual mode, every other mode as well. I do think is just a faulty camera. K 70 works fine. Thanks for all the help.

Have you reset the camera to defaults?
