K1 doesn't AF the DFA 28-105 ED DC WR

Dear all, I'm strgging with my brandnew K1 + 28-105, since this lens doesn't AF as described in the manual.
So far I restored factory settings several times, set user setting to default ans installed the firmware update 1.50.
Unfortunately this doesn't change the situation. I'm p...ed.
Any idea what can go wrong here, what I might have overseen to convince this kit to AF.
Only MF is indicated and AF selection via AF mode and selection wheel comes up with the message this is not possible in the current mode.

Do other DC motor lenses work? May be a problem with the lens or contacts on lens or body. You could try cleaning the contacts carefully with alcohol.

Have you switched to AF on the body? It's a physical switch on the left side of the body as you look towards the backside.

As HarrisF stated the AF switch on the left overides other settings. Toggle it between AF and MF a few times and then set on AF. If it still doesn’t AF look for other causes such as contacts.

There have been a TON of firmware updates for the K1 so it can handle various lenses. Do you have v1.50 installed?

As I'm a Pentax newcomer, this is currently my only lens.

Looks to be something more complex inside the system. No chance to got this solved with standard home tools.
Thx anyway. Eill contact the dealer today and ask him to replace.

Thank all for your great support and valuable hints, but unfortunately they could not solve the issue. In the meantime both can and lens are back to the seller. They stated to check both items and replace the one causing the problem. Let's see. 😉
