*ist DL updates

Hello folks, We have just pulled our old *ist DL out of storage and tried to do a software update. I have downloaded and extracted fwdc112b.bin file to root of formatted SD card and when power up with menu button held down still only says version 1.0 and doesn't give option to update. Batteries are fully charged and camera is fully functional, Any suggestions?

maybe the SD card you are using is too new for the camera.

Have a dig in the furthest recesses of your camera bag/coat for a card from the DL era.

Yes, you might try it using a 2 gb or smaller SD card. Once you update I think you'll be able to use cards up to 4 gb capacity (SDHC).
Once you're up and running, please drop by https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/347661-six-megapixel-club.html

What Paul said is right. Once you find an old 1gb card you'll later be able to do higher capacity cards. Both v1.02 & v1.03 added SDHC Card compatibility.

Thanks for the help. Found an old 256mb card, and transferred fwdc112b.bin to the old card. Tried again to hold menu and power button at same time and still get version 1 comes up with no option to upgrade.

The page in post #4 calls the file fwdc137b.bin so maybe you have a file meant for another model - possibly the *ist D.

I think the 1st DL update file should be 139b, My DL and DS are both updated and I use 32 meg SDHC cards.in them. I just tried a 64 meg card, no go!
