16-50mm vignetting

Delivered today from a reputable source is a slightly used in mint condition 16- 50 mm PENTAX 1:2.8 ED AL [IF] SDM lens...Upon testing, it has serious vignetting at all focal lengths...Any Ideas...is it me or is the lens bad?

On a K-1? Perfectly normal. It's a DA* lens...Try it in crop mode...

It would help your cause to post examples of the problem instead of a pic of the lens. FWIW, assuming a crop camera, that filter might cause an issue at 16-18mm.

it's not a FF lens (I don't think it's on the FF-compatible list, is it?), so some vignetting should be expected....

It's not a FF lens. I have a copy. It's a great lens. I don't care what anyone says about it. The 15-30mm F/2.8 shouldn't have any noticeable vignetting. If I had a K-1 I would buy that lens.

Yeah, you've said elsewhere you own a K-1, Masterfire. In Nikon terms, you've bought a DX lens but have an FX body.

The Pentax 15-30 is a D-FA lens, designed for FF and works wonderfully with the K-1

My first K 1...you need not be critical of my post...I wanted to make sure the forum knew exactly the lens I had purchased. It is now returned, and I've learned a lot. Best regards.

Thank you, I hoped to have 50 mm available without changing lenses...should have asked here before my purchase, which is returned. My Sigma 17-35 is a fine lens. I only have so much room in my camera case, so a 16-50 mm fl appealed. My ignorance caused my mistake, but lens is returned. Best regards!

Yeah the D-FA 15-30 is not cheap. if you want a very good 50mm lens and don't want to spend a fortune I recommend the FA 50mm 1.4 or 1.7. They can be had for a reasonable price new, and terrific value second hand. Autofocus and auto-exposure all work with the FA series which were originally designed for 35 film cameras.

I got mine (1.4) second hand, like new for about 140
