Pentax Password for WiFi?

Another beginner question...trying to use WiFi to load pictures to ipad. When I choose the Pentax WiFi on my ipad, it asks for my Pentax password...where do I get a Pentax password? 😑

In the menu. Go to the Wifi menu settings. What body?

On my K1 Wifi - Communication Settings.

KP.

Ok, I found that, but now it keeps trying to “join” the Pentax network without asking for a password, and it just keeps spinning.

Ugh.

I have turned everything off and back on, same thing. Keeps trying to join Pentax without asking for a password, and is unable to join network.

Alternative choice for Ricoh Image Sync App - Pentax Photo Sync - PentaxForums.com

Someone wrote an alternative that works much better than the Ricoh app.

I've got the Ricoh one working once.

Looked at reviews...they say it crashes or won’t connect.

Will an SD card reader work?

I do not have a computer, so I need to find a way to transfer the photos to my iPad.

Don't have an iPad, but a micro USB SD-Card reader works with my cheap Android tablet, and much faster than trying to transfer over wifi.

The wifi works. First thing, go to your ipad and "forget this network" for your camera; you've done something wrong.

Second, make sure your ipad, camera firmware and ImageSync are all updated. This is likely the root of your problem.

Third, write down your camera's password from the camera's menu.

Have a freshly charged battery-both ipad and camera.

Turn on wifi from your camera

Go back to the ipad connections, and select the Pentax wifi, carefully input the password. You should be good to go.

Image Sync does NOT work on any recent version of Android. It is patchy on Apple too. A quick check of the reviews will show you that it's not an isolated issue.

They plan a complete refresh of the app to be released at the same time as the GR III but since they've happily let it languish for years without fixing basic bugs, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Everything is up to date on ipad. There is no option to forget network.

Looked it up online and it says to tap the blue “i” and choose forget network. There is no option to forget network. 😦

I download my sd card directly to my IPad with lightning to sd card reader. It is very fast, 20 dollars at Walmart.

I always use a card reader. Works fine for me, so I've never bothered with wifi. I don't have an iPad, just an old Dell desktop and this Mac Pro laptop I'm using now.

Just for information I have a K-S2 with firmware 1.11 and a phone with Android 6.0.1 and Image Sync works fine.

I never use it to transfer images, too slow, but as a remote trigger with remote live view and the ability to adjust shutter speed and aperture it works fine.

I suspect you are trapped by the automaticness of the IPAD which wants to relieve you of the need to remember a password.
Maybe you can clear the Pentax Wifi connection out of the IPAD when it's not switched on?
